We’ve just released the first TAIPEI tutorial video. It’s just over 11 minutes long and contains tons of useful information on finding the optimal settings, gain staging, usage tips and a sound test. We hope it comes in useful to your mixes! If you’ve already got the plugin and have been waiting for a TAIPEI tutorial, here you go:
We have made some improvements to TAIPEI Studio Tape Recorder. The updated version [A007 – 1 October 2021] is available now via the Aquarius app. The Trial version update will follow shortly, within 24 hours. Below is the TAIPEI update changelog.
Yesterday, 25th August, we launched our new TAIPEI Studio Tape Recorder plugin, brimming with excitement to see the public reaction to what we feel is our best feat of plugin engineering yet. Murphy crept up on us and kicked us solidly in the balls.
The early adopters quickly reported that their DAW was crashing upon loading TAIPEI.
TAIPEI Studio Tape Recorder was in beta testing for weeks prior to launch, with all manner of issues fixed by our team, though there was one little oversight to do with N4 commercial that caused this failure to load. Our beta testers are all using a beta-version of N4, with all the latest updates. Unfortunately the public version of N4 is still dated 20th October 2020 (!) and doesn’t contain the necessary upgrades to sucessfully host TAIPEI. At least, not until they releast the update.
N4 Player (the free version) works fine as it was updated in August ’21.
The initial hour of the TAIPEI launch, as seen from the London Acoustics loft.
The fix
We’ve fixed the incompatibilities with N4 commercial from within TAIPEI and released the 2.0 update today, 26 August. Once N4 commercial is updated we will then reintroduce the functions to TAIPEI.
If you bought TAIPEI on 25 August
You simply need to update TAIPEI to the latest version using the Aquarius application.
If you’re buying TAIPEI on or after 26 August 2021
You’re good to go! You don’t need to do anything special, the version you purchase will be the latest version.
Sunshine is a wonderful thing! We’ve been experiencing some heat over here and this boost in vitamin D, while giving us a spring in our step, has also made us decidedly kinder. As such, you can now get 30% off all of our plugins until the 27th of June.
Tube shootout video alert! Youtuber Poul Third asks the important question: “What does a tube eq sound like and can we recreate a tube sound in audio plugins / music production software?” In an episode of his “Mixing Wednesdays”, Paul compares three prominent tube EQ plugins, including Acustica Audio‘s Cobalt, Tone Empire‘s Black Q2 and our very own Verona Tube Console in his extensive tube shootout video.
We received news of a full album being released that used London Acoustics plugins almost exclusively. Italian producer Dropout’s new post-electronica album, “Memories From a Distant Future” is an 8-track conceptual album that delves into the themes of fear and relief, examining the difference between our dreams and our realities.
This time it deserves a somewhat longer and more personal message. It’s been a rough one, 2020. This year was a year of drastic change in both lifestyle and expectations, in a short space of time. Although we have always known that change is inevitable – perhaps even prided ourselves at being adept at it – we have to admit that this year caught us a little underprepared.
If you’re anything like us you’ve had some extra time to spend in your studio this year, so we thought we’d show you a little Black Friday love so that the year can at least sound great. So we are!
