Introducing the Buenos Aires EQ – Bringing “Air” with Analog Soul

Buenos Aires EQ

We’re excited to announce the launch of a new sonic secret weapon for your studio: Buenos Aires EQ, the latest plugin from London Acoustics. It’s not just another equalizer, it’s a parallel EQ with personality, warmth, and a little bit of grit.

What Is Buenos Aires EQ?

Buenos Aires EQ is London Acoustics’ take on a classic program-based parallel equalizer. But don’t let the “classic” label fool you, this isn’t some flat, sterile digital clone. No, this plugin adds a pleasant analogue grain that defines and enriches your top end.

Built with a mastering mindset, but designed to flex in mixing too, this EQ lets you sculpt everything from vocals and acoustic guitars to piano tops, snare, hi-hats… even reverb sends. Here’s how Buenos Aires EQ can elevate your mix:

  • Mastering: Sculpt the air region subtly, with analogue-like refinement, to give your master presence without harshness.
  • Vocals & Acoustic Guitars: Add sparkle, clarity, and that polished sheen (especially great for bringing out ribbon-mic recordings).
  • Piano & Keys: Use the EQ to gently saturate high notes or introduce a creamy top-end shimmer.
  • Drums & Percussion: Highlight hi-hats and snare, or give subtle “air” to your overheads and reverb sends.
  • Bass: Yes, even your sub-bass might benefit. It can help “unveil the texture” of the lower frequencies with a gentle lift.

Why did it take so long to release this product?

We certainly have a lot of ground to make up in terms of our reputation since late 2023. We would like to thank our supporters who have always stood by us, even in the most difficult of times. We owe you an explanation, so here goes…

While attempting to make our Nebula plugins work on MacOS, waiting for the new engine from Acustica Audio, we both realised that the right path lay with directly creating third-party plugins in Acqua (DEW) format. This involved a commitment on our part to review the contractual agreements, and we formed a new agreement in the hope that our users could once again fully enjoy our tools.

Over the last two years of design and internal negotiations, we decided not to release any of our new products until there was a stable outlook for our Mac users, who are growing in numbers. In the meantime, we continued to improve and support our products wherever possible – especially integrating new Acqua technologies borrowed from Acoustics, such as Hyper and others, where necessary and useful.

Now the road finally seems clear, with the important technical and logistical support of Acustica, and after launching a couple of exciting new products we’ve been working on, we will proceed with porting all of our previous plugins over to the DEW format.

In the meantime, the Nebula N4.6 engine will continue to be developed, so we will maintain these two format options in future.
